German admiral (1891–1980) who commanded the German navy during World War II and tendered Germany’s surrender to the Allies on May 7, 1945. He was later sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment at Nuremberg. Two items: matte-finish 4 x 5.75 photo, signed in blue ink “Dönitz, 20.6.75”; and a later souvenir copy of a military document regarding the German surrender, signed in blue ink “Dönitz, 10.8.74.” A few subtle surface marks to photo, otherwise fine condition.
