Inviting a fellow officer to dine

Famed Union General (1820–1891) best known for his devastating campaigns in the deep South, including the “March to the Sea,” that led to the capture of Atlanta and Savannah and proved to be one of the turning points of the Civil War. ALS signed “Sherman,” one lightly lined page, 5 x 8, Headquarters, Army of the United States letterhead, January 28, 1873. Sherman writes to General John Love. In part: “Come and take a family dinner with us today…. I wanted Grisham also, but he is going away….” A hint of mild soiling and toning, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
