In part: “As fact hereof, I send a check on your bank for $6000 in favour of Stephen N. Bayard Esqr. now at Albany in the State of New York. He requests that you will be so good as to carry it to his credit in your books of the bank, that he may draw on you for it, as he may want it. Mr. Bayard is a gentn. of the first character & fortune in the City of New York….” The adjacent leaf bears the handwritten address panel.
