Colorful vintage reproduction of an original celluloid drawing actually used in the Walt Disney production of Bambi, featuring Bambi, Thumper, and Flower having an encounter with a butterfly. Very nicely signed on the mat in brown artist’s crayon, “Best wishes, Walt Disney.” Drawing and mat are presented in the original frame to an overall size of 16.5 x 15.5. Back of the item has the original brown backing which bears the original label from Walt Disney Productions, detailing the animation process and important museums which contain Disney art. Bambi was originally released to theatres by RKO Radio Pictures on August 13, 1942. The fifth animated feature in the Disney animated features canon, the film is based on the 1923 book Bambi, A Life in the Woods by Austrian author Felix Salten. This film received three Academy Award nominations for Best Sound, Best Song for “Love is a Song” and Original Music Score. Bambi was also rumored to be Walt’s personal favorite of all his films.
