Benoit ascended to the top of professional wrestling, becoming the World Heavyweight Champion of both WCW and WWE, in turn becoming one of few men to hold both companies' incarnations of the Big Gold Belt. He was generally regarded as one of the most popular and respected competitors in professional wrestling. Chris, his wife Nancy, and their 7-year-old son Daniel were found dead in their Fayetteville, Georgia home on June 25, 2007. Authorities confirmed that Benoit killed his wife and son, and subsequently hanged himself.
