During his 23-year career as an infielder (1912-35), mostly with the Boston Braves, he established many fielding records with his colorful play, including most lifetime putouts by a shortstop (5,133). He was elected to baseball’s Hall of Fame in 1954. Official Spalding National League baseball (circa 1929) signed in blue ink on a side panel, “Best wishes from Rabbit Maranville.” In very good condition, with scattered scuffing to ball, with several affecting portions of first and last name of signature, overall toning to ball, scattered soiling, and a few other ink marks.
