British statesman and soldier, (1900–1979), uncle of Prince Philip, and Supreme Allied Commander in Southeast Asia who was killed by an IRA bomb. British postal cover with a color cachet commemorating the first launch of an aircraft from a ship underway (HMS Hibernia), 6.5 x 4.5, 1978, signed in fountain pen “Mountbatten of Burma.” The cover has also been signed by J. L. R. Samson. In fine condition, with light stain and spot of soiling from adhesive label at lower right. R&R COA.
