Brief TLS signed “G. S. Patton, Jr.,” one page, 8 x 10.5, Headquarters, Third United States Army letterhead, August 8, 1945. Patton writes to Marietta Colello in New Castle, Pennsylvania. In full: “My signature to this letter is the autograph you request….” Patton died on December 21 of the same year of an embolism sustained during a traffic accident on December 9. Mostly uniform toning to top two-thirds of sheet, and adhesive photo corner affixed below signature, otherwise fine condition. The signature is quite dark and clear.
