Four items: printed menu from a 1949 “President’s Breakfast” honoring the 129th Field Artillery, signed in ballpoint; printed card sending thanks for greetings on his 84th birthday; signed in ballpoint; and two 1964 TLS to his old Army comrade Jim Doherty, sending news and thanks and referring to the recipient as “one of the greatest battery sergeants in the AEF, during the First World War,” each signed in black ink. Accompanied by a 1972 telegram inviting Doherty to Truman’s funeral and several items of commemorative postal ephemera.
