Eminent French sculptor (1834–1904) best known for designing the Statue of Liberty. ALS in French, signed “Bartholdi,” one page, 5 x 8, February 28, 1904. Bartholdi writes to Mr. Bloch. In part (translated): “I thank you for the information you gave me concerning the state of the House of the Rue de Marchands and I beg you to undertake all necessary repairs….” File holes (one lightly touching two words of text), mild soiling and handling wear, and a few faint stains from glue remnants on reverse, otherwise fine condition.
