Signer of the Declaration of Independence from South Carolina (1749–1800). Ink signature, “Edward Rutledge,” on an off-white 3 x 1 slip, affixed to an identical size card. In very good condition, with moderate overall toning, and a bit of scattered light soiling resulting in signature a couple shades light, but completely legible. In his 1995 reference History Comes to Life, Kenneth Rendell places Rutledge’s autograph material into the “scarce” category among the Signers. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
