Description

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Maryland (1737–1832) who was the last survivor among his colleagues. ALS signed “Ch. Carroll of Carrollton,” one page, 8 x 10, June 28, 1824. Brief letter written to Captain Francis Foster of Baltimore. In full, “Mr. Foster is requested to put into the post office the enclosed letter.” Reverse bears an address panel written in Carroll’s hand to Foster. Partial separations along horizontal folds, paper loss to right edge from wax seal, scattered toning and soiling, with one spot over text, and another address panel under signature written in another hand, and old tape holding seal in place, otherwise very good condition.
