Description

TLS signed “T. Roosevelt,” one page, 8 x 10.5, United States Civil Commission letterhead, August 15, 1894. Roosevelt writes to the postmaster in Concord, New Hampshire. In part: “Returning your report of changes in the service for the month of July, you are requested to enter in the column headed ‘probational appointments’ the facts relative to the appointment of Thomas F. Sullivan who as selected as stamper … and W. K. Wingate who was selected as substitute carrier … or to state whether either of these persons failed to receive such appointment….” In very good condition, with light toning (mainly at edges), a few faint stains, mild handling wear, and mailing fold through signature.
