Personal deputy to Adolf Hitler (1894–1987). Convicted at Nuremberg and sentenced to a life sentence, he was incarcerated at Spandau Prison in Berlin, where, following the releases of fellow convicts Baldur von Schirach and Albert Speer in 1966, he remained the sole inmate for some two decades, until his death by apparent suicide. Typed DS, signed “RH,” one page on onionskin, 8.25 x 11.5, October 26, 1937. An official document headed “Certificate.” In part (translated): “I confirm to Frau Gret Georg that her father, Herr Oskar Rothacker, is particularly to be thanked if German-ness enjoyed a great repute in Egypt before the war, ranking it far above that of other nations. The name Rothacker has a good sound even today in Egyptian government circles as well as in private circles…. In view of the above I regard as justified the wish of Frau Gret Georg to add the name Rothacker to the name Georg for her children, all the more so because there are no male progeny bearing the name Rothacker….” Mild handling wear, otherwise fine, clean condition.
