Description

General (1886–1950) who helped develop the Air Force into a unified separate service. TLS signed “H. H. Arnold,” one page, 8.5 x 11, War Department letterhead, January 8, 1938. Letter to the editor of the Book Department of Funk and Wagnall’s regarding an upcoming book. In part, “A considerable number of proposed new illustrations are also attached. Two of these which we would like very much to include in the chapter on foreign wars are Acme photos, and it will be necessary to get clearance for them…All the other photos furnished you are “clear” and you may rest assured that your use of them will entail you no embarrassment. The biographical sketch of Colonel Eaker is suggested for inclusion in the revision in view of the fact that when Mr. Douglas wrote the preface he was not aware of the fact that Colonel Eaker was to be co-author, and there is, therefore, nothing in the old edition indicating his experiences in aviation.” In fine condition, with a bit of light toning, with a smaller heavier spot affecting a couple words of text. R&R COA.
