American statesman (1868–1967) who served as Speaker of the House of Representative from 1931 to 1933 and Vice President of the United States from 1933 to 1941. Vice-presidential paycheck from the U. S. Senate [evidently relating to the vice-president’s role as President of the Senate], made out to him for $1,250, 8.5 x 3.25, June 28, 1937. Endorsed on the reverse “John N. Garner.” In very good condition, with folds and creases (away from signature), bank stamps and punch cancellations (the latter touching signature), and scattered light soiling and staining.
