Eminent American writer (1809–1894) best known for his collection The Autocrat of the Breakfast Table and the much-anthologized poem “The Chambered Nautilus.” ALS signed “Oliver Wendell Holmes” and “O. W. H.,” one page, 6.75 x 8.25, November 15, 1874. In full: “I have much pleasure in seeing the son of my old journeying friend ‘The Philanthropist,’ in whose company I passed some of the most interesting days of my life.” A hint of mild soiling and handling wear, otherwise fine, bright condition.
