Description

Two items: early glossy 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in ink, “To Betty not my Betty but you can be my Betty when Betty throws me down, Bud Abbott, Social Maids, 1948”; and a vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in ink, “To Betty, Lots of good luck, Sincerely, Betty Abbott.” Bud Abbott married his wife, Betty, in 1918; the two began performing together in 1924. The Social Maids burlesque company was active in the early decades of the 20th century. A few scattered dings and surface marks (the latter to Bud’s forehead), a few small creases to Betty’s photo, and a hint of subtle silvering, otherwise fine condition. PSA/DNA Auction LOA and R&R COA.
