Description

The only colonial governor to side with the Americans during the Revolutionary War (1710–1785). Washington referred to him as “Brother Jonathan.” DS, signed “Jonth. Trumbull,” one page, 12 x 8, October 17, 1781. Military commission appointing Peter Eastman a “Lieutenant of the 11th Company on Trainband in the 5th Regiment.” Signed at the bottom by Trumbull, and countersigned by George Myllys. In very good condition, with document affixed to an identical size sheet, vertical fold through beginning of signature, scattered light toning and soiling, and light creases. R&R COA.
