Description

Six TLS on her personal letterhead, 1961–1962. Roosevelt writes to William J. Kemnitzer at Stanford University. A few excerpts: “I was very interested in your suggestions and have forwarded your letter to the Head of the Latin American Bureau of the State Department…. I am now forwarding your latest memorandum to the President…. I am very glad to know you enjoyed the Prospects of Mankind program…. You would have to give me the dates you expect to be here before I could give you an appointment…. I will read [the memorandum] at my first opportunity and am glad you made the needed contacts…. I am delighted to have the copy of your address at Oberlin College….” One letter also includes a handwritten postscript. Accompanied by four of the original mailing envelopes and carbons of Kemnitzer’s letters to Roosevelt, which concerned Latin American affairs in Cuba, Bolivia, and “the matter of indemnity to be paid by the Government of Mexico to certain United States nationals for expropriation of their properties in Mexico.” Mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition.
