Ink endorsement, “M. V. Buren,” on the reverse of a 7 x 3.25 check made out to him for $300.00 and dated March 3, 1827. Van Buren was then a senator from New York, and, as the check was drawn on the Bank of the United States, it was likely a paycheck for his official duties. In very good condition, with small loss to scalloped left edge, intersecting folds, and scattered foxing slightly touching signature. The signature is clear and dark. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
