Description

TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, Navy Department, Assistant Secretary’s Office letterhead, April 6, 1918. Roosevelt writes to Lieutenant M. S. Tucker, USNRF. In part: “This letter will be presented to you by Mr. William Henkels, the son of a friend of mine in Philadelphia, who is anxious to enlist in the Navy for such duty as he is best qualified. It would seem that the training school at Cape May would be a very advantageous place for him to receive his first instruction….” Mild handling wear with a few faint wrinkles and tiny edge tears, otherwise fine condition.
