Description

Husband and Prince Consort to Queen Victoria (1819–1861). LS signed “Albert, Acting Great Master,” one page, 8 x 12.5, black-bordered stationery letterhead, March 8, 1844. Albert writes to Lieutenant General the Baron de Washington. In part: “Her Britannic Majesty having been graciously pleased to issue a Royal Warrant dispensing with the Ceremony of your Investiture and empowering you to wear and use the Star Ribband and Badge of an Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath, in as full and ample a manner as if you had been formally Invested…. It becomes my pleasing duty to transmit to you herewith, the decoration of that Class of the Order, together with the said Royal Warrant….” Intersecting folds (vertical fold to “A”), and a touch of mild soiling and handling wear, otherwise fine condition.
