Description

1940 military promotion

Decorated German World War I ace (1893–1946) who rose through the Nazi ranks to become head of the Luftwaffe and one of Hitler’s most trusted associates. While in his Nuremberg prison cell awaiting his sentence of death by hanging, Göring committed suicide with a cyanide capsule. Calligraphic DS, in German, one page, 10 x 14, June 30, 1943. A certificate promoting Hans Rehder to the rank of Regierungsamtmann as a part of the Vierjahresplan (Four-Year Plan). The document bears a large blind-embossed seal at lower left and is housed in its original folder with gilt-stamped Nazi eagle and swastika. Accompanied by a copy of a typescript detailing the chronology of Rehder’s military service. Soiling and edge wear to folder (not affecting document, which, save for a hint of mild handing wear, is clean and bright), otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
