Granting a pension to a Civil War widow

Maine-born Union major general (1828–1914) who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his defense of Little Round Top at Gettysburg. He later served as Governor of Maine and president of Bowdoin College. Partly printed DS as governor, signed “J. L. Chamberlain,” one page, 8.25 x 13.5, July 25, 1868. A pension certificate for Margaret Powers, “widow of Thomas Powers, late a Private in Co. B, 30th Reg’t. Infantry Maine Vols.” Matted with a reproduction photo to an overall size of 16.75 x 17.25. Intersecting folds and mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
