Actor (1899–1973) who, after appearing in a string of westerns, became better known as Frankenstein’s monster after Boris Karloff declined to continue in the role he had created. Strange played the character in three films, but later gained his greatest fame for his role as bartender Sam Noonan in the durable TV western Gunsmoke.
