Hall of Fame manager (1887–1978) best known for his leadership of the Yankees “Brown Bombers” teams from 1931 to 1946. McCarthy was the first manager to win pennants with both National and American League teams; in the course of his career, he won nine league titles seven World Series championships. Official Spalding National League baseball signed in ink on the sweet spot “Joe McCarthy, Cubs, 1928.” The ball also bears the stamped signature of NL president John Heydler on a side panel. In fair condition, with ball shellacked (typical light toning), allover scattered scuffs (several to signature area), scattered irregular ink adhesion resulting in a few dropped strokes, and stains (away from signature).
