Description

A Christmas gift for his longtime correspondents

ALS signed “Ronald,” one page, 7 x 10.5, personal letterhead, December 9, 1977. Reagan writes to “Miss Sam, Miss Bertha, & Buzzy [Sisco].” In part: “First of all we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It still isn’t Christmas but we have to admit we’ve seen our gifts & they are beautiful…. We are so grateful to you and can’t wait to show them off. Please accept the enclosed as a Christmas gift from Nancy & myself. It can’t compare with our beautiful gifts but we do wish you the happiest of holidays….” As recounted in the book A Life in Letters, the Sisco sisters befriended Reagan when they wrote to him in 1972 during his tenure as governor, seeking assistance for their mentally handicapped brother. Reagan directed them to state programs which would provide assistance, and once even sent his personal rocking chair and a check. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
