Partly printed DS as president, one page on vellum, 11.5 x 15, May 29, 1841. A scalloped-top ship’s papers for the brig Inga of Wareham, commanded by Elisha G. Cudworth with a crew of 23. Records show that Cudworth was slated to captain a whaling ship, the Meridian, in 1838, but instead took command of the Inga; it is likely that the Inga was engaged in similar commerce. Countersigned by Daniel Webster as secretary of state. The embossed paper seal remains intact at lower left. Mild soiling, faint staining, and light intersecting folds (vertical fold to Webster’s first name), otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
