Description

“Ready to start kicking —”: Bush writes to a former major-league pitcher

ALS as president signed “George,” one page on an embossed 6.25 x 4.25 presidential note card, July 31, 1992. Bush writes to Milt Pappas. In full: “I saw your July 1 letter and Jan’s reply. Hang in there. I feel fine, ready to start kicking —. All best….” Pappas (born 1939) was a major-league pitcher who played for several teams from 1957 to 1973, including Baltimore, Cincinnati, Atlanta, and Chicago. Among other milestones during his 17-year career, Pappas gave up the 59th home run to Roger Maris during the latter’s record-breaking 1961 season. Accompanied by a TLS of authenticity from Pappas and the original mailing envelope. In very fine condition. R&R COA.
