Ink signature, “Charles Dickens,” on a 4.75 x 2.75 monogrammed envelope addressed in his hand to his American publisher, Messrs. Ticknor Fields and Co. As there is no indication of mailing (or destination, for that matter), the item likely dates from one of Dickens’s two trips to the U.S., in 1842 and 1867–68, when it could have been dispatched by hand. A touch of mild soiling and handling wear, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
