Description

Singer-songwriter (1897–1933), known as the “Singing Brakeman” and “Yodeling Cowboy.” In melding jazz, blues, and Southern mountain music, Rodgers became one of the first superstars of country music and one of the original inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961. Diagnosed with tuberculosis in his late twenties, he nonetheless continued to record prolifically and to tour until his death at the age of 35. Uncommon matte-finish 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To my pals Mr. & Mrs. Charlie Kamakas, Sincerely, Jimmie Rodgers.” In good to very good condition, with a few marginal chips and small creases, chip to bottom margin with tear slightly extending into image, mild soiling, signature a shade light and slightly indistinct against background (though fully vislble). Many of the faults could be matted out for an attractive presentation. R&R COA.
