Description

1963: “Thanks also for the congratulations on the chart positions of Please Please Me’”

Early TLS signed “Love, Paul McCartney, XXX,” one page, 7 x 10.5, no date [circa February 1963]. Paul writes to a fan named Liz. In full: “Thanks for your letter, and the undeserved compliment about my typing. Thanks also for the congratulations on the chart position of ‘Please Please Me.’ We’re all really thrilled about it, as you can probably imagine. The L.P. is called—guess what? ‘Please Please Me,’ and it will be released, unless it escapes beforehand, on March 9th. As far as I know, we won’t be playing at the Cavern until Good Friday, so if you’re going, I’ll probably see you there, mind you, that’s atmosphere permitting. Anyway, Liz, thanks again for your letter, it was really great to hear from you, and all the boy’s [sic] send their love to everyone at the college….” Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Frank Caiazzo. Matted and framed with a photo to an overall size of 24 x 17.5. Light intersecting folds (touching “Love” and “Mc”) and mild wrinkling and handling wear, otherwise fine condition. COA Roger Epperson/REAL and R&R COA.
