Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of the casually dressed Fab Four on a beach in the Bahamas during the filming of Help!, signed in red felt tip, “Paul McCartney,” “John Lennon,” “Ringo Starr,” and “George Harrison.” Photo is also signed in the top left corner in red felt tip by the film’s director, Richard Lester. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo, who dates the signatures from mid-1965, adding “This is an extraordinary signed Beatles photo, and the only one to surface to date which is also signed by Richard Lester.” According to interviews conducted with Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr for The Beatles Anthology, director Richard Lester was given a larger budget for this film than he had for A Hard Day’s Night thanks to the commercial success of the latter. Thus, this feature film was in color and was shot on several exotic foreign locations. Help! was set in London, Salisbury Plain, the Austrian Alps, Providence Island in the Bahamas, and Twickenham Film Studios. Ringo Starr commented in The Beatles Anthology that they were in the Bahamas for the hot weather scenes, and therefore had to wear light clothing even though it was rather cold. The Beatles, with their very busy schedule of writing, recording, and touring were exhausted after the filming of Help!, which made them hesitant on doing another full length scripted theatrical release. A moderate central vertical crease passes thorugh Lennon’s face and body, scattered overall creasing and light surface impressions, with one through Ringo’s face, corner crease through small portion of Harrison’s signature, and some light contrast to Lennon’s last name, otherwise very good condition.
