Description

Distinguished American poet (1807–1882) who produced such timeless classics as “Paul Revere’s Ride,” “The Song of Hiawatha,” and “Evangeline.” He was the first American honored with a sculpted likeness in the “Poet’s Corner” of Westminster Abbey. AQS on an off-white 6 x 3.5 slip. Wadsworth pens a quote from his work entitled A Psalm of Life. In full, “Lives of great men all remind us, We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time.” Signed at the conclusion, “Henry W. Longfellow, January 1, 1854.” Slip is affixed to a 6.5 x 8 off-white sheet. Some mild toning, two vertical creases, and a couple light wrinkles, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
