Italian-born actor (1895–1926) who became the most legendary sex symbol of the silent era. His premature death from a perforated ulcer induced a wave of fan hysteria unmatched until the modern “paparazzi” age, including riots and suicide attempts by grief-stricken fans. Bank check, 6 x 2.75, filled out by Valentino and signed as “R. Valentino,” payable to John Seitz for $125.00, January 4, 1920. The check is housed in a PSA/DNA slab bearing label with an autograph grade of 8. Accompanied by a period postcard photo bearing a facsimile signature. In very good condition, with usual bank stamps and punch cancellations (the latter just touching “R”), vertical folds lightly touching a few letters, mild soiling and creasing, and allover wrinkling. The signature is otherwise clear and dark. PSA/DNA Auction LOA and R&R COA.
