Suggesting a “stimulating subject”

Uncommon ALS, one page, 5 x 7.75, August 6, 1898. Wilson writes from East Gloucester, Massachusetts to John A. Potter in Franklin, New York. In part: “I would suggest as a very stimulating subject for a thesis the following, and hope that you will be able to take it up: The Arguments for and against a Codification of English law or of the law of an American State….” In very good condition, with signature a shade light (but fully legible), separations at mailing folds lightly touching a few words, mild soiling (a few faint stains) and wrinkling, and a few staple holes and tiny chips.
