ALS signed “D. E. Sickles,” one lightly lined page tipped to a larger card, 7.75 x 9.5, blind-embossed Chandler law office letterhead, April 10, 1869. Sickles writes to Moses H. Grinnell, “Collector of the Port.” In part: “Please do not forget the earnest wishes I expressed to you for the appointment of Col. Burns as weigher. He has I presume filed an application. I did not give him a letter, as I have declined writing letters—perhaps it may be well to turn this note over to your secretary … as a reminder….” A few minor wrinkles, otherwise fine, bright condition.
