In full: “What a charming surprise. I was thrilled—and now sitting in bed with a dreadful cold they are my only sources of joy. Thank you many times. Yours faithfully….” Hepburn was then in the last months of her run in the Broadway (and later that year, movie) hit The Philadelphia Story.
