Description

Oldest living member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Rizzuto is a former Yankee and radio/television sports announcer, known both for his skills as a player and his popular but idiosyncratic style as an broadcaster. TLS signed “Phil ‘Scooter’ Rizzuto,” one page, 8.5 x 11, New York Yankees, From the Desk of Phil Rizzuto letterhead, no date. A synopsis of Rizzuto’s career. In part: “Dear Fan, I was very lucky to spend my entire playing career with the New York Yankees from 1941 to 1956. My rookie season was memorable as I batted .307 and Joe DiMaggio hit in 56 consecutive games. We then went on to beat the Brooklyn Dodgers in the World Series four games to one. Holy Cow! I played seven years with Joe DiMaggio and six with Mickey Mantle. They were both great ball players. It was also a real thrill for me to call Roger Maris’s 61st home run, Holy Cow!” In very fine condition. Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
