RAF pilot John Alcock (1892–1919), together with navigator Arthur Whitten Brown (1886–1948), made the first successful non-stop transatlantic flight on June 14–15, 1919. Alcock was killed in a plane crash in December of the same year while flying to an air show in Paris. Souvenir menu from the Royal Aero Club Banquet at the Savoy Hotel on June 23, 1919, given in honor of Alcock’s and Brown’s historic flight, signed on the cover in pencil “J. Alcock” and in green ink “A. W. Brown,” and additionally signed by four others, including J. E. B. Seely, Frederic Sykes, [Duke of] Atholl, and Christopher Draper. In very good condition, with allover light soiling and toning, a few tiny stains and tears, and Brown’s signature a shade light. R&R COA.
