Russian cosmonaut (1934–1968) who, in 1961, became the first man in outer space and the first to orbit the earth. Ink signature and sentiment in Russian, (translated) “Volodya, I wish you a big future, Gagarin, September 25, 1966,” on the reverse of a 4.25 x 3 cardstock photo of a party meeting; Gagarin is not pictured. In very good condition, with creases, light soiling, and a few edge tears (not affecting writing), and ink stroke through last word of inscription.
