American admiral (1885–1966) who led the Allied naval forces in the Pacific in World War II. Historic vintage matte-finish photo of Nimitz signing the Japanese surrender aboard the U.S.S. Missouri on September 2, 1945, trimmed in size to 9.5 x 8.5, signed in ballpoint near his image “C. W. Nimitz, U.S. Representative,” and signed and inscribed in the bottom margin, “To Wayne Joiner—With best wishes, C. W. Nimitz, Fleet Admiral, USN.” Trimming as noted (slightly irregular to bottom edge), a few light creases (touching “W” of second signature and a few letters of inscription) and a touch of mild silvering to dark portions , otherwise fine condition.
