English-born American frontiersman (1845–1930) and Pony Express rider. His adventures were the basis for the popular series of “Deadwood Dick” dime novels of the late 19th century. Vintage glossy 3.5 x 5.5 postcard photo of the older Clarke, signed in ink on the correspondence side “Richard Wm. Clarke (Deadwood Dick), Deadwood, So. Dak., Feb. 16, 1930.” Clarke died just months later, on May 5, 1930. Accompanied by a copy of Clarke’s NYT obituary. In fine condition. R&R COA.
