Description

Pioneering film producer (1902–1965) who became one of the most powerful men in Hollywood. Among his greatest triumphs were the consecutive Best Picture winners Gone with the Wind and Rebecca. TLS signed “David,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, September 22, 1960. Selznick writes to producer Jerry Wald. In part: “Concerning ‘Wild in the Country,’ you are of course quite right about its dates being in conflict with those of ‘Tender is the Night’ but, additionally, you will also recall that Jennifer [Jones] was not at all interested in the script that you sent her…. Spyros [Skouras] spoke to me about Jennifer doing ‘The Return to Peyton Place’ and asked me whether I would consider postponing ‘Tender’ in order to accommodate this. I told him that (1) I did not want to postpone ‘Tender’ any further, (2) Jennifer was not remotely interested in doing the Peyton Place sequel….” Staple holes, secretarial notations, and a few mild wrinkles, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
