Lady Diana Frances Spencer (1961–1997) was 20 when she married Prince Charles, future king of England, on July 29, 1981. While her youth and beauty made her a favorite of the public and the paparazzi, her personal life provided an endless supply of fodder for the tabloids. After the birth of two sons, Princes William and Harry, Diana and Charles finally divorced in 1996. Diana devoted her post-royal life to her sons and worldwide charities. The gown Diana wears in the photo was designed by Bruce Oldfield and worn by Diana to the second Bruce Oldfield Gala held at Grosvenor House.
