Very nice handmade Christmas card to Gil Hodges, 4.75 x 7, featuring a lovely hand-painted Oriental Madonna and baby on the cover, Card bears a preprinted Christmas message inside, signed at the bottom in green ink by Robinson, “The Jackie Robinsons.” Inside back cover of card bears a handwritten message to Hodges from Robinson and reads, in full, “It has been a pleasure being a teammate all these years. I hope you have continued success through the years. We expect the day but when it comes it still shocks but that’s baseball. I hope it never comes to you. Give my best to the family. Sincerely, Jackie Robinson.” In fine condition, with Robinson’s signatures and handwritten text a bit faded, but completely legible, and some light toning and foxing to cover.
