At the 1913 US Open at the Country Club, Francis Ouimet (1893–1967), a former caddy, changed the perceptions of an entire sport with a stunning triumph that captured the imagination of sports fans across the globe—and swept away the notion that golf was a stuffy game for rich old men. Ouimet was American golf’s first great hero, and he remains one of the most beloved figures in the history of the sport. Program from the 1962 Boston Golf Writers awards dinner, two pages, 5.5 x 8.5, held on October 24, 1962.
