Description

Lindy writes to the ‘Den Mother’ of the astronauts, “Thanks very much for sending the Apollo 9 crew patch, I wish it had been possible for us to be at the Cape again to watch the launching.”

TLS signed “Charles A. Lindbergh,” one page, 8.5 x 11, March 16, 1969. Letter to former NASA employee Lola Morrow, who is affectionately referred to as the ‘Den Mother’ of the astronauts. In full, “I’m sure you are much prompter than I am. (Your March 11 letter.) Most of my mail never gets answered. If I had 40 astronauts and 350 guests on my hands, I’d look for another job! I am delighted that you liked my wife’s article, and she will be when I show her your letter. (She is in north country, skiing - back tonight.) Thanks very much for sending the Apollo 9 crew patch, I wish it had been possible for us to be at the Cape again to watch the launching.” Lola Morrow worked for NASA at the Cape and then at KSC from 1962 to 1969. She was assigned to the Manned Spacecraft Operations at the Cape where she met the original 7 astronauts, then assigned to Flight Crew Training and next to the Astronaut Office as their special assistant. Over the years, she worked with 65 of the astronauts. In fine condition, with intersecting folds and some creasing to the margins. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
