Description

Lindbergh prepares to send books to several astronauts, courtesy of the ‘Den Mother’ of the astronauts

ALS signed “Charles A. Lindbergh,” one page, 8.5 x 11, February 9, 1969. Letter to former NASA employee Lola Morrow, who is affectionately referred to as the ‘Den Mother’ of the astronauts. In full, “I have been traveling in Europe and Asia, and out of contact with my mail. Your January 8th post and list of astronauts catches up with me here in Hawaii. Many thanks. I’ll get books off as soon as I can after I return to my home in Connecticut, later this month.” Under his signature, Lindbergh adds his Connecticut mailing address, as well as a short postscript reading, “Does your book go to this address? Please let me know.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Lindbergh’s hand, and signed on the reverse in his return mailing address, “Lindbergh.” Lola Morrow worked for NASA at the Cape and then at KSC from 1962 to 1969. She was assigned to the Manned Spacecraft Operations at the Cape where she met the original 7 astronauts, then assigned to Flight Crew Training and next to the Astronaut Office as their special assistant. Over the years, she worked with 65 of the astronauts. In fine condition, with intersecting folds, a bit of creasing to bottom blank area, and three small binder dings to left edge. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
